Ever since I can REMEMBER, I’ve had horrible cramps in my legs on a fairly frequent basis. They would occur as often as every other day to once or twice a week. Sometimes, the pain would literally bring me to tears. Ibuprofen or some other pain killer was my only solution.
The pains started when I was younger, so the doctors shrugged it off as growing pains (after my mother insisted on getting x-ray’s and bloodwork done).
I think I was 14 when I went to get an MRA (similar to an MRI or CAT scan) because it wasn’t “normal” to have severe muscle cramps in your legs past age 12. Unfortunately, my mother insisted on having doctors poke around and find out what was going on. Of course, they didn’t find anything. I knew they wouldn’t because I developed my own theory.
I learned how to deal with the pain (lots of stretching and eating more potassium) which helped. I still got terrible cramps every so often, but it was less than once a week. I was able to stop the small aches from turning into large, painful cramps.
So here we are today, and I haven’t had even the slightest of cramps in weeks. I honestly can’t even remember the last time my legs bothered me. It’s so weird because they don’t cramp up at ALL now. Is this what it feels like to be normal?!?! xD Even if I didn’t necessarily have BAD cramps, with minimal exercise I had cramps. Always. My legs were hurting 95% of the time. And now, I don’t even have that. It just feels so weird to not have constant pain in my legs. xD I’m so grateful for this.. muscle peace. ^.^
